THE HEARING-EAR DOG 3
Kendra Harness
[Comic]
For those who are Braille readers, a text description is provided below.
Not by Popular Demand! "The Hearing Ear Dog" Yet More Tripe. Having recently been introduced to the family, the Hearing-Ear Dog has been with them for awhile and is now settled in . . .
Killer the cat hisses, "Hey you illiterate or something? That's *my* lunch!" The Hearing-Ear Dog sighs as he munches in Killer's bowl.
Charles Bukowski sez: "Love is a dog from hell" . . . in Hell, maybe? Killer chases the Hearing-Ear Dog against a starry black background.
[The dog]'s made friends with little Melvin as well as the family cat. Baby Melvin holds a pair of scissors in his hand as he grips the panicked Dog with his other hand.
Father and Mother chat as the Dog whimpers at their feet, a band-aid on his rump.
"I've been thinking--what do we name the dog?"
"See how cute and fluffy he looks now . . . How about Fluffy?"
"Looks like a cat's name."
"Let's call him Puffy!"
"Ok!"
Killer watches Puffy the Hearing-Ear Dog as he walks past the bookshelf the cat is dozing on. Suddenly Killer leaps! "Surprise, Puffy!"
Puffy howls in surprise.
A question has come up . . . Since the dog is Deaf and the cat hearing, how do they communicate? Obviously sign language is out of the question . . . Just ask the Deaf people who try to understand chimpanzees. Well, most of animal communication depends on body language, scents, things like that. So don't ask me about this again, okay? (This means ya, Bob!)
Coming up! Dreams of the Kal Kan Fiend. More interspecies violence. More dumb names . . .
