THE HEARING-EAR DOG 2
Kendra Harness
[Comic]
For those who are Braille readers, a text description is provided below.
Not by Popular Demand! The Hearing Ear Dog (C) (TM) (ETC) The Adventure Continues. Having just been given a Hearing-Ear Dog, our family discusses the possibilities...
Father signs, "But what will we do with a H. E. Dog? We already have lights!"
Mother remarks, "I think a dog is more fun than lights..."
Father responds, "More trouble! And we already have a cat." Killer the cat turns to the Dog.
"Hear that? They're gonna get rid of you!" The Dog is anxious.
"Oh no! What will I do? I can't even hear what's going on!"
Killer exclaims, "You're deaf!?" The cat laughs. "A Deaf hearing-impaired dog!..." Killer smiles gleefully at the thought. "Heh, heh..."
The Dog whimpers, "Please! You have to help me! I can't go back to that H. E. Dog school! The stress of faking it will make me go crazy!"
A flashback shows the dog being whipped by a rough handler. "Listen, damn you!"
Killer says, "Look, you've gotta fake it now... And anyway, what's it worth to me to help you?"
"I promise not to chase you?" Killer finds it hilarious. Dog ransacks his brain.
"Uh . . . I give you half my dinner as long as I live?"
"Dog food?! Get serious!"
Suddenly, a mouse skitters across the floor. It does not go by unnoticed.
"I know what--how about if I catch mice for you?"
"You're telling me a dog can catch mice?"
Sound effects fill the panel. (Captioned for the hearing-impaired.) Run, skitter! POW! BANG! Squeak...
The Dog enters victoriously with the mouse dangling from his mouth. Killer the cat is impressed.
"All right! It's a deal!"
NEXT! Will we ever learn the Hearing-Ear Dog's new name? Do you really care? We'll find out . . . eventually.
